This series is for people from or living in specific areas, showcasing places, things, foods, and customs that only locals know about, which would be fun to turn into a puzzle. Shiga Prefecture had many castles dismantled due to the Castle Abolition Act, but Hikone Castle is the only preserved example in the prefecture and one of the five castles whose main keep is designated as a national treasure, making it a symbol of Hikone City.
The beauty of Hikone Castle illuminated by moonlight is so stunning that it was selected as one of the "Eight Views of Lake Biwa."
In front of the main keep, Hikonyan, Hikone City's nationally famous mascot, occasionally makes appearances for events.
