Series: Japanese Cities - Enjoy Japan with Puzzles
This series is for locals and residents of a particular area, featuring places, things, food, and customs that only locals know, and that would be fun to turn into a puzzle. Everyone has something like that, and we've chosen things that are similar to it. The current shrine building was rebuilt after the war, and the giant lion head-shaped Shishiden (Lion Hall), which is 12m high, 11m wide, and 10m deep, is particularly eye-catching, attracting many people from all over Japan to see it.
This area has long been a region where lion dances are popular, so it began with the construction of this lion hall as an amulet against evil, along with the main shrine.
It is made of steel frame and reinforced concrete, with some wooden elements. The unique green color of the exterior is due to copper powder spraying, and the golden eyes and 24 teeth of the lion are made of brass, shining beautifully and emphasizing the lion's power.
The ceiling inside is carved with phoenix patterns, all finished by hand.
