Series: Japanese Cities - Enjoy Japan with Puzzles
Everyone has something they'd like to enjoy as a puzzle, whether it's places, objects, food, or customs known only to locals. This series selects items close to that, aimed at people from those areas or currently residing there. In the Obu district of Ono City, Hyogo Prefecture, there's the "Ono Sakura-zutsumi Embankment Corridor," where approximately 650 cherry trees bloom for 4 kilometers along the Kako River embankment.
It's one of the largest cherry blossom viewing spots in western Japan, and the cherry blossoms reflected in the rice paddies' water are a famous sight known as "Sakasa Sakura" (inverted cherry blossoms), which is also a must-see.
Five types of cherry blossoms (Somei Yoshino, Oshima Zakura, Edo Higan, Omoigawa, and Yaebeni Shidare) bloom sequentially from the upstream of the river, with the best viewing period from late March to early April. Efforts have been made to allow enjoyment of the cherry blossoms over a long period, and there are also evening cherry blossom light-ups, where you can enjoy fantastic night cherry blossoms. ■ Difficult Jigsaw
