Executive Production: Takayuki Takeya, Takashi Yamaguchi"Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," an animated film directed by Hayao Miyazaki, based on his original manga serialized in Animage magazine. From the film, Takayuki Takeya has reimagined the "Toriuma" (Bird-horse), an indispensable means of transportation for people in the vast Sea of Corruption and deserts that emerged after the collapse of civilization in the "Seven Days of Fire," with a jizai okimono (articulated figurine) concept. These birds have grown larger than humans, losing their ability to fly but developing powerful legs, allowing them to gallop like horses with people and cargo, fostering a symbiotic relationship with humans. They are highly intelligent, especially accustomed to and often seen communicating with the protagonist, Nausicaä.
For the Takeya-style Jizai Okimono, the distinctive features such as the large, swollen beak, long neck, and developed legs have been captured three-dimensionally. Arrangements have been made to add more detail to the sculpt, such as fine feather textures, scales on the legs, claws, ethnic equipment, and adorable eyes and tongue. Furthermore, particular attention has been paid to the articulation as a jizai okimono, resulting in a sculpture that can be held and posed to recreate scenes from the original manga and animated film, thanks to trial and error with 41 points of articulation, their range of motion, and stability. We hope you enjoy recreating many famous Toriuma scenes in your hands.●41 points of articulation throughout the body. The neck's cervical structure connects 9 ball joints, covered by 8 segmented feather parts, allowing for flexible neck movement. This enables various expressions, such as raising the head high as if neighing, or extending the neck straight during a gallop. Additionally, the large, swollen beak opens and closes, with a tongue attached inside.
●Each leg has 13 points of articulation, allowing for a wide range of poses. The three front toes are fully articulated, moving at both the first and second joints, allowing for realistic reproduction of poses from firmly stepping on the ground to powerfully kicking off the ground to gallop.
●The Toriuma's body is equipped with reins, stirrups, a saddle, and leg guards (kyahan), with each part designed to convey a different material texture. It can also be combined with the "Takeya-style Jizai Okimono Tolmekian Armored Soldier" (sold separately); by replacing the included waist joint part, the soldier can be mounted on the Toriuma.
●Includes a sword with a fan-shaped blade tip for the Tolmekian Armored Soldier, a dedicated sheath, and a display stand.
