It's a karuta-style game where you listen to the meaning written in the dictionary and pick up the corresponding word card.
You might not know the meanings of words as well as you think! In fact, there might be words that even adults don't fully understand!?
This game allows you to experience the joy of discovering words and the pleasure of learning by understanding meanings through play.
There are four types of cards: "Beginner," "Advanced," "Expansion," and "DIY," to suit players and their skill levels.
The Beginner and Advanced levels were selected from 7,700 basic words that elementary school students should learn. The reading cards indicate the target grade level at the top right of each word.
The "Beginner" level selects 30 relatively easy words from basic words for grades 1-3, including some simple words that even 5-year-olds can play with.
The "Advanced" level selects 30 words, primarily from basic words for grades 4-6, focusing on slightly difficult words whose meanings even adults might struggle to articulate clearly.
The "Expansion" level selects 30 words from approximately 40,000 words beyond the basic vocabulary. It focuses on fun words for play, as well as katakana words and trending terms, not just for learning.
The "DIY" cards are blank cards. The words people know, find important, or want to learn/teach vary from person to person. We have prepared 30 DIY cards so that you can create cards featuring words that are important to you.
Please try flipping through a dictionary, searching for words, and creating your very own karuta.
Also, creating karuta together is sure to be fun! Try making "My Karuta" with your classmates, or with not just children, but also parents, grandpas, and grandmas. The "karuta" you create together is sure to become everyone's treasure.
