Gakken Otona no Kagaku Magazine BESTSELECTION04 Karakuri Robot Mini Chahakobi Ningyo (Tea-serving Doll) [Karakuri Doll Craft Kit with Guidebook, Figure, Educational Toy, Gakken Plus]

The 4th installment of the Otona no Kagaku Magazine's masterpiece series of extras is the "Mini Chahakobi Ningyo," an Edo-period karakuri robot that the editorial department absolutely wanted to re-release!

This 13-cm mini-sized recreation of the tea-serving doll described in "Kikou Zui," Japan's oldest mechanical design book published over 200 years ago.
It's a spring-powered karakuri robot that doesn't require batteries, and despite its simple mechanism, it performs precise movements automatically.
When a cup of tea is placed on its tray, it walks forward, and then bows politely in front of the guest.
It stops when the teacup is taken, and when the empty teacup is returned to the tray, it turns around and returns to its original position.
It is an automatic doll with a programmed series of movements.
You can also enjoy dressing it up with authentic paper kimonos and Western-style clothes.

It is packed with advanced scientific technologies from the Edo period, such as the escapement mechanism, which applies the clock's speed governing mechanism, and cams, which convert rotational motion into complex movements.
Assembly instructions are carefully explained with illustrations.
Even those not used to assembling can complete the main body in about 30 minutes.

*This product is a revised edition of "Otona no Kagaku Magazine Mini Chahakobi Ningyo" published in 2007. Changes: Added Western-style clothes for dressing up.

■Kit included / 24-page booklet
