When King Manuel I of Portugal visited the Alhambra Palace in southern Spain, he was captivated by the striking beauty of these Moorish decorative tiles.
Deeply impressed by the beautiful interior of the Alhambra, the king immediately ordered his own palace in Portugal to be decorated with similar tiles.
Azul is a game where players become tile artists and decorate the walls of the Palace of Evora with colorful tiles.
Players take turns selecting tiles from the central factory display boards and arranging them on their player boards, competing for points based on their craftsmanship.
With simple rules and deep strategy, colorful cast tiles, and beautiful Persian-inspired artwork, this highly acclaimed game won the 2018 Spiel des Jahres award and can be enjoyed by adults and families alike! Azul Mini has the same rules as Azul, but the entire game has been miniaturized for easy portability, making it a mini version designed for easy play while traveling.
