You have been invited to the annual banquet hosted by Her Majesty the Queen. Treachery is a fair means to put the spotlight on your favorite "house," and no method is beyond reproach. In "Courtiers," players manipulate their influence in court by "drawing three cards and playing three cards" on their turn. One card is played to the Queen's table, changing the influence of that "house" for better or worse. The other two cards are played into your zone and one opponent's zone, giving that player positive or negative points according to the status of that "house" as determined at the Queen's table. Since the cards placed at the banquet influence how each "house" is evaluated, you must make the best choices when placing your three cards. Drive away courtiers who have incurred the Queen's disfavor and push them onto other players, gather those who are favored, and at the banquet, raise the reputation of the "houses" of the courtiers you have gathered while lowering the reputation of the "houses" of courtiers gathered by other players!
However, sometimes cooperation with other players will be necessary... "Courtiers" has simple rules, yet
the distribution of cards in hand is always a challenge, making it a quick-to-play card game. The beautiful illustrations, specially printed cards, and cloth game board are also noteworthy.
