This game features real "age-based units" that existed in the Aizu Domain during the Bakumatsu period. There are two love interests from each of the Byakko Unit (younger than the protagonist), Suzaku Unit (same age as the protagonist), and Seiryu Unit (older than the protagonist).
Since each unit has a different role, the protagonist must choose to act with one of the units in order to change the tragic future foretold by the Byakko god.

Then, in her dream, a god calling himself Byakko appears—Byakko tells her that Aizu will eventually be defeated, and gives her a mission.
