In "For a Crown," players aim to collect more rubies than other players and ultimately claim the crown.
To do this, players, starting with the one with the most influence, hire one mercenary with various abilities using money (or rubies), place their card sleeve on it, and add it face down to a shared deck.
Once all players have hired and placed their mercenaries, the shared deck is shuffled, and cards are revealed one by one from the top. When a player's mercenary is revealed, they receive its effect - some can gain rubies, some can steal rubies from other players' treasure chests, some can increase their influence in the court, and some can spread bad reputation to other players.
Some event cards may refer to the current influence ranking, which could lead to unexpected twists!
The round ends when all cards have been revealed. And of course, the cards from the previous round become the shared deck again!
Can you gain more rubies than other players by the end of the 4th round?
This is a quick-to-play game that involves anticipating other players' moves, the strategy of deciding which cards to send into the deck as your own, and an element of chance where anything can happen!
